WHAT IS STROKE

A STROKE or cerebrovascular accident occurs when blood supply to part of the brain is disrupted causing brain cells to die . when blood flow to the brain is, impaird Oxygen nutrients and glucose can not delivered in the brain . The blockage of an artery in the brain by a clot (thrombosis) is the most common cause of a Stroke. The part of the brain that is supplied by the clotted blood vessel is then deprived of blood and oxygen . As a result cells of that part of the brain die . Typically a clot forms in a small blood vessel with in the brain that has been previously narrowed due to veriety of risk factors.

TYPES OF STROKE

There are two main types of stroke : ischemic and hemorrhagic.

Ischemic stroke is caused by blockage in an artery that supplied blood to the brain resulting in a deficiency in blood flow (ischemic).

Hemrrhagic hemorrhagic stroke is caused by the bleeding of the ruptured blood vessel (hemorrhagic) in the brain .

During ischemic stroke diminished blood flow initiates a series of events - called ischemic cascade- that may result in additional delayed damage to brain cells

PREVALENCE

Stroke occurs at an equal rate in men and women , but women are more likely to die . Ischemic stroke occurs more frequently in people over age 65 and hemorrhagic stroke is more common in younger people.

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms of stroke depend on the type and which area of the brain is affected . Signs of ischemic stroke occurs suddenly and sign of hemorrhagic usually develop gradually .

here is some symptoms
